| Prof. Dr. Jan Hegemann receives Publicer-Contergan-Award |
|
Berlin, 28 November, 2011 Prof. Hegemann had successfully advised Zeitsprung GmbH – the production company of a film that covers the thalidomide scandal in Germany in the 1960’s - in the legal proceedings regarding the television broadcast of the film. After the prohibition of the broadcast by the Regional Court of Hamburg in the summer of 2006, the Higher Regional Court of Hamburg had overturned this decision and allowed for the broadcast of the movie.
The Publicer-Contergan-Awards were presented for the first time in 2011 by various thalidomide victims’ organizations. Award winners include the newspaper “Welt am Sonntag” on the occasion of the 50-year anniversary of the publication of the article “Missgeburt durch Tabletten?” on November 26, 1961; Michael Souvignier for the film “Contergan”; Benjamin Sadler as the leading actor in “Contergan”; Niko von Glasow for the documentary “NoBody’s Perfect”; as well as Westdeutscher Rundfunk for the broadcasting of the films “Contergan” and “NoBody’s Perfect”. |
