RAUE LLP joins JURDAY project

As of 2012, Raue LLP will join JURDAY, a joint project of seven leading independent German law firms. The JURDAY member firms organize an exclusive annual recruitment event which focuses on outstanding law students. Further, the member firms host training seminars for former JURDAY participants, and organize a common internal professional education program for the lawyers of the member firms.

JURDAY consist of the independent law firms Broich, Glade Michel Wirtz, Oppenländer, Raue LLP, Renzenbrink Raschke von Knobelsdorff Heiser, Streck Mack Schwedhelm, and SZA Schilling, Zutt & Anschütz.
 

 

Prof. Dr. Jan Hegemann Supports European Pro Bono Forum in Berlin

Prof. Dr. Jan Hegemann, Partner at RAUE LLP, supports the fifth annual European Pro Bono Forum as Co-Chair of the Host Committee organizing the conference in Berlin. More than 300 international guests and advocates of the pro bono movement are expected at the event on November 17 and 18.

The European Pro Bono Forum in Berlin is the first conference of this kind and size taking place in Germany. The organizers pay tribute to the rise of pro bono advice in Germany. “The legal profession in Germany is committed to strengthening social justice and helping the most vulnerable in our communities,” said Prof. Dr. Jan Hegemann. “Holding the European Pro Bono Forum in Berlin this year gives us a focal point for the further development of pro bono legal culture here in Germany.”

Dr. Benedikt Schmidt wins Hugo Sinzheimer Award

Dr. Benedikt Schmidt, associate at RAUE LLP, has won the renowned Hugo Sinzheimer Award for outstanding dissertations. His work “Plurality of Applicable Collective Bargaining Agreements in the Labour Law System” discusses legal and practical issues resulting from the amendments to the case law of the Federal Labour Court regarding the so-called “unity of collective bargaining agreements” in 2010.

The Hugo Sinzheimer Award is given to students of labour law. For the first time, the prize is awarded by the Hugo Sinzheimer Institute for Labour Law in cooperation with the Institute for Commercial Law and Civil Law of the Goethe Universität in Frankfurt/Main. The jury consisted of renowned professors of labour law: Prof. Dr. Ulrike Wendeling-Schröder, Universität Hannover, Prof. Dr. Bernd Waas, Universität Frankfurt am Main, and Prof. Dr. Ulrich Preis, Universität Köln.

Dr. Benedikt Schmidt is an associate at RAUE LLP. He advises clients on all aspects of labour law. Dr. Schmidt studied law at Heinrich-Heine-Universität in Düsseldorf and has worked as research assistant at the institute of Prof. Wank, Ruhr-Universität Bochum. His dissertation was published by Duncker & Humblot.

 

Raue LLP energy team receives two awards

The Raue LLP energy team has received awards by two international publications: Raue LLP has been awarded the Clients Choice Award ”Energy Law Firm of the Year 2011 in Germany“ by international business magazine Corporate INTL. Almost at the same time, legal publication Global Law Experts (GLE) declared Raue LLP the winner of the GLE ”2011 German Energy Law Form of the Year“ award, based on a survey conducted by the publication amongst business directors, in-house counsel, independent law firms, high net-worth individuals, bar associations, and visitors to the GLE website and LinkedIn. Raue LLP had already won the 2010 GLE award in the same category. 
 

Raue LLP advises MERSEN on relocation of production facilities

MERSEN (formerly Carbone Lorraine) has retained advice by Raue LLP on a complex labour law matter: The closure of a plant in Annaberg-Buchholz and the successive relocation of production facilities to Hungary. The closure of the plant in an economically underdeveloped region has attracted substantial attention of politicians, the media, and labour unions. The project, which encompassed a reconciliation of interests including the establishment of a transitional company, the conclusion of a company collective agreement, and the merger of a MERSEN affiliate with another group company, has been completed successfully within the intended time frame.
