Prof. Jan Hegemann speaks about The culture struggle for the Digital World: Copyright as an engine for civil emancipation and condition for intellectual and technological progress? at the Club of Berlin. While the public debate on this question usually places the royalties of writers or musicians in the foreground, the importance of copyright for the knowledge society as a whole has gone out of sight. Copyright is not just about piracy on music and movie titles, but about intellectual individual performance as such. To clarify these economic mechanisms it is worth to take a look back at the changes in society through the "introduction" of copyright. The copyright served as a pioneer of modernism. Is giving up this right now another civilized progress in the digital age or will retrogression await us?

RAUE LLP veranstaltet am 9. November 2012 einen Workshop zu EFET, DRV und ISDA. Die Rahmenverträge der European Federation of Energy Traders (EFET) für den Strom- und Gashandel gehören zu den meist genutzten standardisierten Energiehandelsverträgen. Für diejenigen, für die die EFET-Rahmenverträge zu einem neuen Handelswerkzeug werden sollen, bietet der Workshop eine Einführung in die Vertragsdokumente. Für diejenigen, die die Verträge bereits in ihr Energieportfolio aufgenommen haben, ist der Workshop als Training und als Gelegenheit gedacht, aktuelle Rechtsfragen zu den Vertragsdokumenten zu erfahren, zu diskutieren und zu lösen. Ein besonderes Augenmerk wollen wir dabei den häufig vernachlässigten Themen Insolvenzrisiko und Steuern widmen. Im Rahmen eines kurzen Überblicks werden auch die für Finanzgeschäfte genutzten Rahmenverträge DRV und ISDA vorgestellt.

Dr. Benedikt Schmidt, Associate at RAUE LLP, held a lecture on 22 June at the University of Passau Employment Conference. In his speech Dr. Schmidt discussed the details of wage determination under conditions of plurality of collective bargaining agreements.

RAUE LLP hosted a conference on "Alternative Dispute Resolution for Commercial Disputes in Germany and the US" by the German-American Lawyers' Association.

Speakers were Prof. Dr. Andreas Nelle and Friedrich Tobias Schöne (RAUE LLP), Melissa Eidelheit, and Nils Goltermann.  Mr. Goltermann, corporate counsel for Deutsche Bahn AG and representative at the German Round Table Mediation and Conflict Management (RTMKM), provided valuable insights from the corporate angle.
