RAUE LLP advises the not-for-profit company Boulevard der Stars gGmbH on the realization of the Boulevard of Stars which will be opened at Potsdamer Platz in Berlin on 10 September 2010. The Boulevard of Stars will honour German film and television celebrities. Unlike the “Walk of Fame” in Los Angeles, the installation will not only consist of dedicated stars on the ground surface, but will also enable visitors to experience and photograph the honoured celebrities on the Boulevard through installed special cameras. Initially, the installation will encompass 40 stars, with 10 more to be added every year. RAUE LLP advises Boulevard of Stars gGmbH on the negotiations of the project agreement with the state of Berlin as well as on sponsoring and copyright issues.

In 2008, the District Court of Berlin banned a competitor of the paper producer Steinbeis Temming from labelling an office paper product as “100% recycled”. 50% of the paper was made of production waste (paper trimmings) that had not been in circulation. The appeal court has now upheld the decision arguing that the designation “100% recycled” misled the consumers. RAUE LLP has been representing Steinbeis Temming in the non-final proceedings which involve issues of unfair competition, environmental, and EC law. Based in the state of Schleswig-Holstein, Steinbeis Temming is one of the leading German producers of recycling paper.

RAUE LLP represents the artist Christo in proceedings against the operator of an internet platform which illegally distributes unauthorized photos of his works. The most renowned works of Christo and Jeanne-Claude include the projects Wrapped Reichstag in Berlin, Pont Neuf Wrapped, and The Gates in Central Park in New York RAUE LLP partner Peter Raue had already advised Christo and Jeanne-Claude on the Wrapped Reichstag project in 1995.

Minda Schenk Plastic Solutions GmbH, part of Indian automotive group Minda which supplies plastic parts to car manufacturers like VW, Daimler, and Opel, has acquired the Köngen factory assets of Aksys GmbH from Aksys’ liquidator. RAUE LLP advised Minda Schenk on the transaction.

Private equity firm The Riverside Company has sold Lautsprecher Teufel GmbH through a secondary management buy-out to HgCapital, another private equity firm. The transaction is still subject to approval by competition authorities. Lautsprecher Teufel GmbH, the market leader in direct sales of speaker systems, develops its own products and sells them over its internet platform www.teufel.de. RAUE LLP advised the management of Lautsprecher Teufel GmbH regarding the transaction.
